Edition originale pour la Cirugia et seconde édition pour Il Tesoro, chacune illustrée d’un portrait de l’auteur gravé sur bois. Léonardo Fioravanti, (1517-1588) était à la fois médecin, chirurgien et alchimiste. “Fioravanti was a chemist and a pharmacist, and his practice put unbounded trust in his specifics. The Balsam wich goes by his name, and wich was in use till a comparatively recent period, is a very complex mixture, but he also describes the preparation of certain definite compounds” (Ferguson).
